Sushi Making Fun in the North West

East2West are based in Ramsbottom, Bury. Our fresh, handmade, Sushi and other foods got great comments at 2009's Ramsbottom Food & Wine Festival. Many people told us that our Sushi was much tastier than the supermarket Sushi that they had already tried. They were also very interested in learning how to make their own Sushi.

We have taken the hint and now offer Sushi classes around Manchester, Lancashire & the North West. We come to you so you can learn Sushi making in the comfort of your own home or business space.

Sushi isn't necessarily about raw fish or even raw anything. Sushi is about using rice as a base for a topping or or a wrap for a filling. The other ingredients can be cooked or raw. We personally like raw fish but we also like cooked ingredients. We've also noticed that a lot of people aren't sure about trying raw fish - at least to begin with. So, we've developed a range of Sushi with cooked and cured ingredients as well so that more people can try this tasty and nutritious food.

About Your Teacher

Kiyoko Suzuki Hay is a native Japanese born near Tokyo. Kiyoko is passionate about sharing Japanese food and culture. A 1st Dan in the arts of Kendo (Japanese fencing) as well as Shodo (Japanese calligraphy), literally the Way of writing, and trained in the Japanese healing arts of Shiatsu and Reiki, Kiyoko is knowledgeable about many aspects of Japanese culture.

Kiyoko loved working in restaurants in Japan during her teenage years and was always keen to learn her grandmother and mother's family recipes. Kiyoko's love of food was helped by growing up on a commune which was self sufficient in various foods. These days the commune supplies foods and produce to the local community.

Kiyoko has had a successful career that includes, to date, working in banking and business administration as well as interpreting and teaching English & Japanese language. In offering Japanese food and sushi making courses Kiyoko's career path has come full circle!
